Our Integrated Biorefinery Process
Atlantis Biotech Refinery will employ a state-of-the-art, multi-stage conversion process designed to maximise yield, minimise waste, and ensure economic viability.
1. Feedstock Reception & Pre‑Processing
Waste oils, agricultural residues, and other sustainable biomass are received, characterised, and prepared for conversion through cleaning, drying, and size reduction.
- Quality control laboratory on site
- Closed‑loop material handling
- Moisture and impurity removal
2. Conversion & Hydroprocessing
Advanced catalytic hydroprocessing (hydrotreatment and hydrocracking) converts the prepared feedstock into stable, high‑quality intermediate products.
- Licensed, commercially proven technology
- Continuous‑flow reactor design
- Real‑time process monitoring
3. Fractionation & Purification
The intermediate stream is separated into distinct product fractions through precision distillation and purification units.
- Bio‑jet fuel (SAJF)
- Renewable diesel (HVO)
- Speciality biochemicals
4. Product Storage & Dispatch
Finished products are stored in dedicated, environmentally controlled tanks before dispatch via road or rail to offtake partners.
- Automated blending and quality assurance
- Integrated logistics planning
- Full traceability from feedstock to product
Technology Partners & Licensing
We are evaluating leading international licensors for core conversion technologies, ensuring we deploy the most efficient and sustainable process available. All selected technologies will be adapted to South African feedstock characteristics and operating conditions.
Environmental Integration
The entire process is designed with circularity in mind:
- Waste heat recovery to power pre‑processing stages
- Water recycling and minimal effluent discharge
- Carbon‑capture readiness built into design
- All by‑products utilised or valorised
